Found this place in Lonely Planet who recommended it highly. The owner Mr Xuan is a lovely man and speaks good English and gives great advice. The room is clean and convenient with a soft bed for once. Restaurant and service was excellent. Nice family run place. I hired a moped from them and they booked my bus to Hue also. Xem tiếp

If your staying here to see the sights of Tan Coc- just stay in Tan Coc. This place offered nothing in terms of tours or transport. We only saw anyone working there twice - when we arrived and when we left. Lady there was seriously angry at life- miserable on both times we saw here. Pointless staying here Xem tiếp

A small lane separates Xuan Hoa hotel 1 and 2 in Ninh Binh, we stayed in room 406 in hotel 1 and it was perfect. We arrived at 5 am and we were allowed to check in and have some sleep for only 100,000 Dong instead of waiting until 12h. The room was very clean, the bed and pillow comfortable, we had a little balcony and the private bathroom had good pressure on the shower and hot water as well as free toiletries. The reception and restaurant are on hotel 2, we had 2 good dinners. Like in many other reviews, the owner was friendly, booked our onward journey to Hue and help us pick a hotel. Both the hotel and the bus worked out really well. We rented a scooter for 2 days at $6 each day and he kitted us out with maps and advice. All that said, if you're not renting your own scooter, Tam Coc is probably a better place to stay as you're then within walking distance or cycling distance to the boats in Tam Coc and the pagoda in Bich Dong but still as far to go to An Trang boats and Hoa Lu. This place was a great fit for our needs. Owners very nice. Clean. Can walk to bus. We let them know we were getting dropped off at 5am and a lady very kindly let us in and showed us to our room. Actually, though I initially booked into Xua Hoa 1 Hotel, on arrival I found it a bit dated and mildly depressing so I upgraded to the much more modern, adjacent, Xua Hoa 2 Hotel. I had the really nice and light 3rd Floor, large Room Number 403. This hotel has a lift and my room had its own balcony facing over a man made lake and two double beds, lots of hot water, FREE WiFi, A/C and fridge. Including breakfast it was a reasonable US$20 a night. Husband and wife team Xuan & Hoa speak good English, are very welcoming and are very welcoming. The food is very good. I particularly liked their fried rice with chicken and the sweet & sour chicken. I arrived by motor bike and they have secure parking for bikes. They also rent out scooters.
