Our stay in Mai Chau Nature Place was nice. Despite Mai Chau being a very busy and touristy area, it felt fairly peaceful. We did got waken up by the roosters in the garden around the bungalows but I guess this is part of the charm. This place is a family run busyness and if the bungalows are little bit rustic in their built the place is overall nice. They can organised many tours and activities for you but you are never force to take part. The food we had in their restaurant was very nice and at a good price. The top was the free bicycles. they are not all of an equal quality but it is easy get hold of one and cycle around in the surroundings, to the city center and other places of interest. The down side was the immediate outside in front of terrace of the bungalow. The mountains in the background are gorgeous but the pond just in front has a lot of rubbish flowting. It would be hard for them to change that as Mai Chau is a very busy place and many other resort hold parties for Hanoi students very frequently on weekends. Xem tiếp

We really enjoyed our stay- despite the bathroom being a little basic ie the wall lining was buckled and falling off- we loved the whole experience. Especially our guide Mia, riding bikes and climbing to the cave - we loved our time thanks Xem tiếp

The photos of the rooms from the website are not like they are in the reality. The doors can't lock, there are a lot of holes in the entirly room which many animals get into. We found a spider as big as my hand, cockroaches, and many insects... I know we are in the countryside but if the rooms where well built these fauna could not get in. The breakfast was included but you can only choose between noodles and egg or bread and egg. Then nobody speaks English which is very difficult to communicate with them. Finally we found that it was quite expensive for the type of rooms and service you recieve. Xem tiếp

There are some negative reviews on here but you should come here with the right expectations. Yes, the bungalows are basic. They are made of bamboo. But if you get a river view you will have a fantastic porch looking across the paddy fields with mountains in the distance. There will be geckos in your room (nature's mosquito spray). You may even see an ant or other creepy crawlies. This is inevitable in traditional style accommodation. We found the bed perfectly comfortable and the mosquito net was new and in perfect condition. The staff are not trained to western standards. A little more of a welcome on arrival would have been nice. However, they helped us whenever we sought them out, and they provided a wonderful evening of food and traditional dancing. We even joined in at the end. Please, do not be put off by one reviewers comments about this. It was the highlight of our trip and yes, one or two beers were on the warm side, but remember where you are! There were also comments about loud karaoke at night. Karaoke is the number 1 entertainment in Vietnam and we have stayed in 3 and 4 star resorts where we heard karaoke at night. Just because this is the countryside, doesn't mean the locals have to give you your idea of rural tranquility. During our stay there was music coming from a party in the field next to the hotel. We went and enjoyed it, and it was over by about 9:30. All in all, we were very happy with our stay, and would recommend this hotel to like-minded travelers who are not expecting luxury or resort-style service. Xem tiếp

It's easy to get a xe om (or same price for a taxi if 2 or more) from Mai Chau local bus stn to nearby Lac Village 1 or 2 where all the homestays are found. All the stilt houses are close together and independent travellers can easily find a real stilt house to stay in. There are oodles of handicraft stalls underneath at Lac Village 1 and even cafes with wifi. Nature Place is at the end of Lac Village 2 and it's a lovely 15min walk to Lac Village 1- so picturesque with buffalo, ducks, fish ponds, rice padis, mountains, streams and kids playing soccer. Nature Place frequently treats guests with traditional dance shows at night and the meals are ample. It's kind of annoying having to buy water all the time at premium prices- especially when so hot and humid. Xem tiếp

You should not expect a city standard of a 2 star hotel. The bungalow is made by bamboo, looking over a canal, not a river. It provided basic facilities. Tourists normally stay in stilt houses in Lac Village which is really a tourist area. I prefer this bungalow since it is located away from the crowd but you can walk to surrounding areas. It was a nice experience for my children to see many animals around. Xem tiếp

It was great to get out of busy Hanoi and be able to relax in beautiful Mai Chau. A friend recommended Mai Chau as an alternative to Sa Pa and we weren't disappointed. Nature Bungalows were great, just be aware, they are what they are, basic bamboo huts. But really, that was what we were looking for. They were building some newer huts down the road when we went, they looked liked they were going to be a higher quality, so search them out if you want a few more creature comforts! Xem tiếp

It was nice but don't expect luxury. It's pretty much glorified camping. The food is nice but the staff were difficult to communicate with or locate when you needed help. Xem tiếp

Are you looking for the authentic Vietnamese experience? No, not the one you've read about by some "epic traveler" in a Fodor's forum - I'm talking about the true Vietnamese experience: pounding techno, abysmal service, and a rundown facilities at a price that is 3X what the place is worth. If so, this is your scene. Upon arrival at this lovely "eco" resort, make sure to take note of the floral and fauna that makes Vietnam such a beautiful place. Notice the river and how peacefully all manner of plastic litter floats by as more and more is added each day. After taking in the sights, take a 2 min. luke-warm shower and perhaps enjoy a cocktail before dinner and the evening's "traditional" dancing. If you're lucky enough to find some one who even attempts to help you, you're in luck. A warm beer is sure to come your way in no time. Take a few swigs and settle in on the flimsy bamboo furniture as this is not just a happy hour it's also training for your accommodations later. Yes the bungalows you'll be staying in are made from the same flimsy bamboo, so unless you're a 65lb Vietnamese lady, you'd better get used to the trampoline floor in your paper thin bungalow. The walls are equally as thin, so unless you're a Native Alaskan, it's better to stick to the warmer months lest you freeze at night. But I digress, you're coming here for the traditional Vietnamese life, right? That can mean only one thing: techno. Nothing says "nature" and "eco" quite like the repetitive bass of the same song played over and over and over again while what can only be described as a cat being strangled karaokes into a mic to add to this incredible rural, cultural experience. To top it all off remember that you're paying for this experience (As a point of reference, in Laos we paid for better accommodations). At the end of the day, are better value for money than this. Beautiful location in the valley, quiet and yet close to shops and restaurant/bars. Bike riding and walks around the village. Food at the hotel drew visitors from other home stays. Well fed. Great to get away from the hustle of Hanoi. Our bungalow view was superb. Xem tiếp

It was nice but I think the hotel does not have conditions to receive guests in winter! It was really cold and in the room I was frizzing because the ceiling was not totally closed and there was a hole on the ground near to the bathroom! Having a shower there was a nightmare because of the cold! Xem tiếp

We stayed in a bungalow with a terrace overlooking paddy fields and a nearby river (or a canal more precisely). It was great to have meals on this terrace, and I almost forgot that we were not faraway from Hanoi because the village was so peaceful. Also, I would recommend anybody who loves animals to stay at this hotel. You can see different kinds of animals, such as cows, buffaloes, goats and chickens walking around everywhere in the village. A very relaxing stay, in a location surrounded by spectacular scenery. The trip to explore the National Park & home stay with the guide, Kah, was incredible...suitably informal, supplemented with great knowledge of the area & a great opportunity to see some of the country's fabulous unspoilt beauty. It's also a great location to explore independently on foot, bike or moped. The food was delicious in the evenings, although breakfast was basic & the produce was locally sourced. The staff were friendly & attentive, with enough English to get by. Xem tiếp

An excellent stay. Room is very rustic but nets are provided. It's a great escape to nature and an excellent base to explore the area. The room is peaceful and has great views and the staff were very helpful cooking meals outside of normal times and offering advice on things to do for people who have been there before and wanted to get out of the usual trappings. Food is the best I have had at any Homestay type residence in Vietnam. This will be my defualt Mai Chau accomodation in future. Xem tiếp
